Manufacturing Process

Every KTEK brake disc passes through a six-stage manufacturing process at Kaneri Industries’ MIDC Shiroli facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The process is designed to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and metallurgical consistency in every disc before it leaves the production line.
01

Raw Material Testing & Sand Preparation

Every production cycle begins with stringent raw material inspection. Sand testing machines, spectrometer analysis, and image analyser with tensometer ensure the correct chemical composition, mould quality, and mechanical properties before casting begins.

02

Precision Casting

Premium Grey Cast Iron and Ductile (SG) Iron are cast using advanced foundry processes. Controlled melting, moulding, and pouring techniques ensure defect-free castings with consistent metallurgical properties and dimensional accuracy.

03

CNC Precision Machining

Cast components are machined using High-Performance CNC, VMC, and VTL machines to achieve precise dimensions, braking surfaces, mounting holes, and critical tolerances required for OEM and aftermarket applications.

04

Dynamic Balancing & Assembly

Each brake disc and flywheel undergoes dynamic balancing to minimise vibration and improve performance. Automated balancing equipment, ring fitting machines, and Yaskawa robotic welding systems ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

05

Quality Inspection & Testing

Every component passes through comprehensive quality checks using CMM, surface finish testers, Rockwell and computerized hardness testers, spectrometer analysis, and dimensional inspection to ensure compliance with international automotive quality standards.

06

Surface Protection, Packing & Dispatch

After final approval, components are cleaned, oiled, and packed using an automated conveyor-based oiling and packing system. Each product is securely packaged and prepared for safe domestic delivery and export to customers in 20+ countries.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our KTEK Brake Disc

Kaneri Industries has manufactured brake discs at its Kolhapur, Maharashtra facility since 2000 — over 25 years of casting expertise. The KTEK range covers 109 disc variants in grey iron and SG iron, all produced to IATF 16949 quality standards. Every disc is machined to OEM tolerances with DTV controlled to under 0.015 mm and LRO under 0.08 mm. Kaneri supplies OEM-grade replacement components to over 500 trading partners and exports to 20+ countries including the USA, Germany, and the UK.

KTEK brake discs are manufactured from high-grade grey cast iron and SG (spheroidal graphite) iron, both produced to Indian Standards (IS) grades. Grey iron offers excellent thermal conductivity and damping properties, making it ideal for dissipating heat generated during braking. SG iron is used for applications requiring higher tensile strength. The specific grade is selected based on vehicle application and OEM specification.
Kaneri Industries is IATF 16949 certified. Quality assurance steps include: (1) controlled casting using specified IS-grade iron; (2) thermal and pressure treatment to relieve stress and stabilise dimensions; (3) CNC machining to OEM tolerances; (4) surface grinding to eliminate micro-irregularities; (5) dimensional inspection measuring weight, thickness, DTV (< 0.015 mm), and LRO (< 0.08 mm); and (6) laboratory microstructure analysis and digital hardness testing on sampled batches. Non-conforming discs are rejected before dispatch.
KTEK brake rotors offer: uniform disc thickness variation (DTV < 0.015 mm) for smooth, vibration-free braking; precision ground surface finish for improved pad contact and reduced break-in time; tight lateral runout (LRO < 0.08 mm) to eliminate steering shimmy; controlled casting hardness for consistent, long-lasting wear; and direct OEM-fit dimensions requiring no vehicle modification. All rotors are IATF 16949 certified and available in 109 variants covering 19 vehicle makes.
Brake disc service life depends on driving style, vehicle load, brake pad type, and maintenance intervals. KTEK discs are engineered with controlled casting hardness and tight tolerance machining to maximise service life under Indian road conditions. As a guide, most passenger car discs on moderate urban use should be inspected at 30,000–40,000 km intervals and replaced when minimum thickness is reached (per vehicle manufacturer specification). Kaneri recommends always replacing brake pads when fitting new discs to ensure even bedding and maximum life.

The KTEK range covers vehicles from compact passenger cars (solid discs, ~3 kg) to SUVs, commercial vans, and light trucks (vented discs, up to 9 kg). Vented disc designs with internal cooling passages are used for higher-performance and heavier-duty applications where heat dissipation is more critical. For specific heavy commercial vehicle or high-performance applications, please contact Kaneri with your requirement — custom specifications are available.
A solid brake disc is a single flat disc of cast iron. It is lighter and used on lower-load applications, typically rear axles of passenger cars or front axles of smaller vehicles. A vented brake disc has two friction faces separated by internal cooling vanes or pillars. The vanes allow air to circulate through the disc during rotation, significantly improving heat dissipation. Vented discs are used on front axles of most passenger cars and SUVs, and on both axles of heavier vehicles, where braking generates more heat. The KTEK range includes both types — 109 variants covering solid and vented designs across 19 vehicle makes.
The KTEK range includes dedicated disc variants for all three models: Maruti Swift (Part No. KES007, Vented), Hyundai i20 (Part No. KEH007, Vented), and Tata Indica Vent (Part No. Ket010, Vented) and Indica Solid (Part No. Ket009).
